My great grandfather, Fred Pinborough, arrived in the US from Liverpool aboard the SS Arabic in 1906. The S.S. Arabic was part of the White Star Line and sailed from Liverpool England via Queenstown to New York and Boston. On August 19, 1915, the Arabic was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine U24 off the coast of Ireland.
